Aaaaah I've been looking everywhere when I noticed the game version I was reading wasn't going to be updated again. Glad to have found your work here. You have a very entertaining writing style, the characters are very... Endearing? I guess I mean to say that it makes me want to empathise with the things they do/have went through, even when they aren't exactly good towards the MC. As they say, it's what life has taken from you that gives you shape, scars 'n all. You have made things intriguing to explore so far, and I'm pleased with the amount of the questions/reactions my character can have, and the following reactions from those around them. Looking forward for more...!

Please take your time. No pressure is bad for both work and learning, but too much pressure, from others or oneself, makes one crack. As an artist, I can't help but remember my other creative fellows that they too need moments to dive into the wondrous works from other's and take a break from their own. Hope this messages finds you in peaceful spirits.

So glad I found your work again! Been wondering where you went. I love this work so much and I can't wait for the updates. I told myself that I'm going to make Mordred more confident than the one I did with the dashingdon demo, but I can't stop making him a crybaby. It's just too cute. 😭

(+4)

That's absolutely fantastic and I love every bit 😍

Can't wait to read the rest of this story!

(+4)

I honestly did not expect to enjoy the story as much as do. Especially since I’m not the biggest fan of the Arthurian legend but, omg..this is one the best IFs I’ve ever played. Everything is written beautifully and keeps you invested in the characters. I can’t wait to see how the story continues!

(+1)

Quick question: I remember scrolling through your tumblr and I could've sworn their was a discord for TBOC.  If there is one, could you drop the link? (I asked this on tumblr but for some reason my ask never sent. Also, I'm pretty sure this is not the space to ask this but for the life of me I don't know where else to do this.)

Nvm, I found it by going through the archive!

(+2)

Damn. This is really good. I'm actually upset I've finished it so far.

(+7)

me trying to do an enemies to lovers trope with galahad:

(+5)

Same, but for me it then circles back to enemies

(1 edit) (+3)

This is written so well! Love the setting and dragon companion! I can't wait to read more. Definitely one of my new favorite stories on here.

(+7)

Can't wait for a time skip!!!

(+2)

Oh I am so in love with this game!! And Gawain!!! I just--- UUUUGGGGHHHH I LOVE IT!!!!!

(+3)

Oh my god. This is amazing??? The characters, the writing, the emotional investment this story makes me feel?? Please I would very much like more this game is incredible. And its only got 2 and half chapters!

(1 edit) (+8)

I kid you not, this absolutely mind-blowingly good. I don't even know where to start. I can easily say I love everything but imma take some time to write a few good things.

Because I was a child of an absent father and a bitter mother, I made my MC loathe Arthur and almost blindly follow Morgana. But then it turns out she may not be the best parent, meanwhile Arthur still seems like an idiot, but with a good heart. Pretty much everyone bar Gawain seems morally grey and untrustworthy to an extent, so I'm really conflicted already. It is extremely well written and different choices actually matter.

You can be a total badass or a weak crybaby, which is cool. I played the available chapters in one go and now I'm really sad that I'm done. Is there anywhere I can follow it's development?

Thank you so much! 💕 You can follow me here on tumblr for development updates and just general stuff about the game.

(+6)

Omg I love this story so far, I can't wait until it is updated. I love how well written it is, I actually feel bad for my Mordred.

(+6)

I love it, its written very well. I didn't really think much of it when I started to read the story, but as the story goes on, met each characters, and read their stories, I've come to like them and the story itself. I can't wait for the next update!

(1 edit) (+2)

Your work is amazing! I can't wait for the next chapter (?)

Oh and apologies if this may seem like a spoiler, but will Mordred and Queen Guinevere be a thing? Since in the Arthurian legends y'know...

Anyways, I'll always look forward to the next update, definitely am hooked.

(+3)

According to the author's tumblr, Mordred can have a small crush on Guinevere, which is never returned. Apparently, we can abduct her too. Exciting stuff! (Take this with a heavy dose of salt, this was stated a year and a half ago and a lot of stuff could have changed in the meanwhile.)

lol i never read / heard about GuinxMordred.  You will have to point me to some of that!  Most Arthurian tales I've read seem to focus on AxGXL love triangle.  Have to admit all of that might be fun to create drama and intrigue but not sure how  it would add to this story.  Still it could be fun to be a bit nosey and stick our noses into  whats none of our business lol.

(+3)

There are versions of the story, when Arthur leaves Camelot and Mordred takes the throne, of Mordred trying to marry Guinevere. In some she does (tho I think this one also differs, whether she did it willingly or was forced), in others she flees. I haven't actually read them, but it's come up in my research of the myths. There's this article on the subject of the differing versions if you're curious.

(+1)

thanks for the link, it was really educational.  I knew that Arthurian tells went back almost as far as there was an England as we know it.  Still I had no idea that GxM stories even existed, never mind were even older than the GxAxL stories.  So cool honestly.  Even cooler that you have yourself done your research and reading before writing your own work.  Color me seriously impressed!

(+3)

Thank you!

Like Over the Moon said, at some point early in development I had an idea of letting Mordred have unrequited feelings for Guin and attempt to court her in the villainous route (and be rejected and prompt Guin's escape), as inspired by the myths, but I've changed my plans since then, especially since I've got more interesting ideas for what Guin will be up to at the time, and her role in the plot.

Really good. I tried to go for a second run where I'm cruel after I hit the end, Couldn't really finish cause I can't bring myself to be mean to Arthur.

(+1)

First of all, I was glad to see this on Itch. Played it before and it was just as easy to become emotionally invested as before. Really excited to see more.

Second, I noticed an error in the Romance Options information. Nimue has the phrase "three years older than Mordred" twice.

Thank you!! Will go fix that lil error now.

(+3)

Wow I did not expect myself to be so into the story to the point where I would be so connected to every character, I remember all their names and that just shows how good the characters are. It feels like I'm in a movie, in the situation, in the feels. This is a 5 star rating full marks, can't wait for more

(+3)

Can't wait next episode...morded and gawain love love

(+2)

Its such a well written story I really got lost in it while reading and that's rare for me to get this invested keep up the great work!

(+5)

I think this could easily become my favorite IF game, if things continue going the way they have so far.  Love the depth and the way the author takes the time to let the story grow and the player to emotionally connect both with their MC and with all the other characters in the story.

I really do want more! But please take all the time you need to make this the story you want to tell.  There's a reason they age wine and whiskey.

(+2)

Thank you so much! 💕

I've noticed you also left a very lovely message along with the rating and that you raised some questions which I'd like to answer here since I don't think there's a way to reply to a rating(?)

The plan is to release each installment (of which there will likely be 3-4) as a different game so each would have its different page on itch. The first three chapters alone are getting complex coding wise so it's better to just split the story like this, since there are about 12 chapters planned for book 1. Anyway, once another installment is done it will be linked on the pages of the others too, for ease of navigation! And of course all of them will be found on my profile too.

The game also doesn't lock you into any romance at the moment, but it doesn't yet react if you crush on both Galahad and Gawain, which is something I'd like to add.

Is there new content from the dashingboard version or is this just the same content transitioned to itch?

There's some new content, such as new choices, a couple new scenes and general edits but it doesn't progress past the dashingdon one storywise.  It's basically a revised version with added content.

(+2)

It had some bugs like this. Also it mentioned me as a woman sometimes. And my dragon was referred as they while he's a male. Otherwise a banger game.

(+1)

Thanks! Mordred's pronouns should be corrected, at least most instances, and the bug was also fixed.

(+2)

Ayyy, it's back!

(+1)

Oh, yay! I've been so excited for your porting to Twine and now that I finally have a few days off work, I can play it!

(+1)

I  love this game. My heart strings where pulled and i now i have this sadness inside me that i cant wear off, its amazing. Please update, i cant bear the thought of this game being left like this forever. xd

(+5)

It's going to get updated, it's just going to take time, especially since the author is a college student.

(+2)

OH! Then il wait, its so worth it Xd Thanks!

(+1)

yayyy i'm so excited to see this back in a new form<3 can't wait to see where you end up going with it.

(+1)

Nice

I got this error while hanging out with Gawain.

Error: <<if>>: assignment operator found within <<elseif>> clause (#1) (perhaps you meant to use an equality operator: ==, ===, eq, is), invalid: $gender == "female"> The story tells of how the knight would dedicate all his victories to the princess, and the princess would always offer the knight her favor in tournaments. Thank you for letting me know! Will fix it as soon as I can!

*Reads the words "end of chapter 3"*

.....*rereads the words claiming there's no more pages*.........

You can't just do that to someone! Write that good of a story and leave it open-ended  where they become so immersed that stopping it abruptly like that feels more like....like.....well, like every software update that gets to 99% and just permanently stops. You know that feeling? That awful, horrible, and exasperating feeling? Well it was actually nothing like that feeling, but it was still rather upsetting and I don't do well with anticipation! Q.Q

Lol I really hope to read more of this amazing masterpiece soon, I really enjoyed it so far. Thank you for making it! ^_^

(+2)

It's actually not the end of chapter 3, haha. We've got a few more things happening this chapter 👀 Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed it!

That's why I love this writer because he's punching you in the face every time he gives you a cliffhanger trust me there does this choice of games there very good at it that's why I enjoy him he punches me in the face with it too

(1 edit) (+1)

On the part in Morgana pov after the talk with Arthur it repeats everything 3 times .

lover deversity of the characters personalities, and the scope of choices to develope the pc. Hope to see more chances use magic and connect with my favorite ro gawain but orerall the most immersive interactive fiction I've read in a while.

Thank you!! Will fix it. And you'll certainly get many more chances to do those things!

(+1)

There is a small amount of spelling errors here and there, for example: ‘sore’ (tiredness in the muscle)  was written as ‘sour’ (an acidic taste). And there was a problem in the paragraph after Mordred argued with Morgana about Arthur and wanting to make their own choice. When it switched to Morgana’s POV, there was a lot of paragraphs repeat entwined with the next part of the story. But this is really well written, can’t wait for next update!

(+1)

So excited to see this out! Played the dashingdon before and am excited to see the twine version. Thanks for releasing this! Really enjoy your writing

(+2)

I waited for the Twine demo to come out to say this. Now it's here, I'm here, and my /cough/ love letter /cough/ is here too.

Arthurian Legends are very near and dear to my heart, so I was kinda anxious reading someone else's interpretation of the story. And I'm glad I did. The lore I've seen so far is beautifully crafted and I'm enjoying learning about the world. Also, dragons? Dragon friends? I can have a dragon buddy? A dragon pal? A mighty magical creature, that is also my companion? Do I need to say more?

The writing style is really good, in a way that it manages to be beautiful and descriptive, but simple, in a way that it doesn't make me struggle with English words. It makes you want to read slowly, soaking in the details, and reread stuff. I don't say I spent an hour on the first Arthur-Mordred scene, but I don't say I did not. Oh, this scene. I suspected that the game can satisfy both my hunger for angst AND daddy issues, and it was so amazing, oh my god?

I love the ability to play the role I chose for my Mordred, making them react just the way I imagine they would. It feels very natural, not like trying to fit a character into unfitting choices. Plus, I can make my Mordred a horrible little villian. It's always good to see games where the "hateful person" level is juuuust right.

With the playstyle I chose, my Mordred will probably end up with no parents at all, but I hope I can manage to keep Morgana on my good side. She is amazing, I fell in love with her from the very beginning. It's actually quite hard not to fall in love with characters, because they are so well-written and full of life. Lancelot is pushing the boundary a little, but I can't bring myself to hate him, the man is trying to protect what's important to him. ROs are precious, Gawain is double precious, and I can't wait to meet Agravain!

On a more serious note - I almost lost my goddamn mind when I find out you can play a trans character in this game. In a good way. I don't know what to say, just thank you so much, dear author, for this opportunity.

Anyway. The game is incredible. Llamagirl is incredible. Her other WIP is incredible too, can't wait to see it on Twine. And for everyone reading this - you are incredible too ✨ Now I will finally shut up :D

Thank you so much! 💕🥰

I loved reading this on Dashingdon and I'm excited to read it again on here!

I've been following this story since it first posted on dashingdon and I love how it's changed and grown. I can't wait to see what the next update includes
